A while ago, we started a food revolution. In memory of our graphic designer Anna’s husband, we launched a hashtag called #sjukmat and posted a manifesto about the food in Swedish hospitals. Some of you might have wondered what happened? Well, last week we reached our goal of 10.000 likes. And now, we would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has participated in this debate so far.
Over the last couple of months, you have been sending in photos of pitiful hospital dinners and food served in residential aged care. No matter what some will say, pictures don’t lie. Unfortunately, the food served in Swedish hospitals, preschools, schools and elderly care is loaded with sugars and empty calories. It stands to reason that the Swedish Government should spend their money on healthy and nutritious food that will help us stay healthy, and not the other way around.
We promised that when the #sjukmat Facebook page reached 10.000 likes, we would visit the office of the Minister for Health and Social Affairs in Sweden. We’ve been waiting for this day to come, and now it’s here. We will keep our promise.
Thank you for all the love and support. Thank you for telling your stories, for helping us spread the word and for inspiring others to take action. Together we can make a change for the better.
